On the way to a germ-free cultural experience

A little escape from Corona, that is the goal when going out to the movies, theatres or a classical concert in current times. At the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, art lovers really don't have to worry too much when strolling around the new and very modern cultural landmark in Hamburg.

The way to the concert hall or the viewing platform "Plaza" first leads via the very impressive, so-called "Tube". It is important to hold on to the handrails to avoid falling. However, many people feel unpleasant as they consider the handrails to be unhygienic.

To ensure that guests whether during a tour of the "Elphi" or on their way to a concert can use the 82-metre-long, slightly curved escalator double secured, it was upgraded, like the other escalators, with the ESCALITE UV module from Cologne start-up UVIS GmbH.

Once installed inside of the escalator, ESCALITE uses UV-C radiation to reliably kill viruses and bacteria on the handrails. Due to the high intensity of the radiation from three directions, 99.99 % of the bacteria and viruses are rendered harmless with each pass of the handrail in the escalator – even the corona virus, which is so widespread at present time.

The "Elphi" now offers double safety - against corona and dangerous falls on escalators.

The manufacturer KONE was responsible for the professional installation.
